Local people demanded renovation of the historical house of world famous Mathematician Kalipada Basu (K.P. Basu) at Harishankarpur village in Jhenidah district. This architects South-east side has a village named Arjanarayanpur and a river named Nabaganga.
World famous mathematician name K.P. Basu who made considerable contribution to the development of Algebra after1800s.
The fully furbished house of the world famous K.P. Basu is on the verge of ruination due to lack of maintenance in Jhenaidah district. The elite persons of Jhenaidah and this locality have requested the authorities to transform the building area and this old house into a tourist spot.
Kalipada Basu is known globally for his contributions to the field of Algebra. He was born in Harishangkarpur village, near Hat Gopalpur, under Jhenidah sadar, Jhenaidah. His father's name was Mohima Charan Basu.
K.P. Basu was educated under the village's primary teacher. The name of his first and primary techer was Nosim Uddin Mondol. He was the first introduction person for Basu to the world of Mathematics. K. P. Basu joined Dhaka College in 1882 as a Mathematics Faculty. He continued teaching for the rest of his life. Then he married his own village girl. Meghmala Ghosh was the name of his wife. Basu was amicable and of very simple traits.
Although, Basu teaching was his primary occupation, he was not confined to it. He investigated modern European algebra. He made it (algebra) easier and more lucid in terms of scientific expression. His work was recommended by the Hunter Commission in the late 1880s. At this period he also invented new mathematical proofs and elevated the standard of the locally available at that time algebra book.
Geometry had been also interested by him. Basu published "Algebra Made Easy", "Modern Geometry", "Intermediate Solid Geometry". He also established K.P. Basu Publishing in Kolkata. He ultimately reputed by virtue of his perseverance and merit. In 1907, he addicted by build a house building. He established a palatial building in Harisankarpur.
In 1914, the famous of the world contracted per nisus by malaria. His died place is Dhaka. When Arrived his dead body in Jhenidah. All the offices, shops, vehicles are stoped. Thousand of people including his devotees had thronged by the side of River mame Navaganga to convey regards; the local authority also named a road "K.P Basu road" after him in Jhenidah.
K.P Basu built a two storied palatial building in Harishangkarpur on 1 acre land in 1907. Once this building used to attract the attention of visitors but at present it has lost its own beauty due to care of this building, inside and outside of the building and maintenance. Besides, there are also a lot of furniture which are stolen by nearest dishobest person and some of the furniture are dilapidated condition. K.P Basu's descendents are living there.
If many tourist come to visit this palatial building, then it would be a good source of revenue for the company who could spend the money to restore the furniture, place and building.
